Dry cleaning of the car interior is a simple procedure that can be done by anyone.
To take care of the velour and textile surfaces in the car interior a vacuum cleaner is an irreplaceable tool. Dust eats into seats and carpets. The more you use a vacuum cleaner, the less dust there will be on the upholstery and interior surfaces of the car.
It is not recommended to use a vacuum cleaner for cleaning plastic parts, because although the hose tip can cause only minor scratches, even these are rather unwanted. Plastic parts can easily be cleaned with a clean microfiber cloth. This is ideal for collecting dust from the instrument panel. If there are no spots on the textile parts of the interior, then for achieving cleanness it is enough to clean the upholstery with a moist sponge. But be careful to use only a little water.
When you notice spots on the upholstery, first use water or better a soap solution to remove these. But if after drying you see that borders have formed around the cleaned areas and the entire surface has become uneven, the only solution is wet cleaning of the interior.
Useful to know: if you use a special product for removing spots you should remember that all such products clean only the top surface and if dirt has eaten into the material, the spots may re-appear..
Some important points of upholstery cleaning:
- Always start cleaning with the safest product to avoid damaging leather because of a too strong chemical. In case a milder product does not help, take a slightly stronger, but not the strongest from this product range.
- Before you start cleaning investigate which is the best product to clean this particular leather type – is the top surface of the leather with opened or closed pores (smooth leather)? Has the dirt seized in the material or is it simply a spot on top of the surface? Or is it an oil spot or just a spot of unknown origin?
- Regardless of the cleaning product you use, try it first on a small hidden area of the leather surface. And after you are convinced that the product does not harm the leather, first clean a small area and thereafter dry it with a hair drier set to a cool regime. But in case the product leaves stains on the surface or unexpected reaction processes take place in the material to be cleaned, an expert has to be consulted.
- In case the top surface of the material absorbs water well, it has to be cleaned with minimum water. The entire procedure has to be carried out carefully by applying a washing agent and water evenly on the surface to avoid formation of stains and spots.
